Everything's better in the rain. Reading, dancing, kissing, thinking, smoking, laughing, skipping. Smells enhance, emotions romance. Jasmine tea + a boy + a summer storm is one of the happiest combinations my soul can think of.
My favourite camp memories include the rain. Finding the perfect hill with the perfect mudslide. Getting hit by a downpour in the middle of a field. Writing letters in the cabin, the sound of the drops and smell of the woods outside. The innovative ways we created raincoats out of tarp and plastic bags.
I was never one for jumping in puddles as a kid. That joy was discovered on a drunken night 3 years ago. My childhood rain moments included a lot of dancing and riding bikes under the clouds. Trying to catch the drops in my mouth, letting the water run through my hair, trickle down my neck, soak me to the bone. It was a cleansing and therapeutic experience, and I felt sorry for those who ran for cover as fast as they could. They were missing out.
The greens of the grass and bushes and trees are so green right now. The purples and pinks and whites of the wildflowers are popping out like crazy. It's amazing how the grey in the sky is a perfect colour to bring out every other colour in nature.
C'est la vie aussi, non?
